Outside of work, Ariane enjoys reading a good book, playing tennis, and traveling to discover new destinations.

Maria Villavecer, RN

Director of Clinical Case Management

Maria brings over 30 years of comprehensive experience in nurse case management, with specialized expertise spanning travel medicine and group case management. Her extensive background includes critical care nursing and clinical instruction, providing her with a well-rounded foundation in healthcare delivery. Having dedicated more than 17 years to Active Care Management and continuing through Global Excel's acquisition of ACM, Maria has demonstrated unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care and case management.

Her leadership philosophy centers on building efficient, collaborative teams while maintaining the highest standards of clinical decision-making. Maria's confident critical-thinking skills and proactive approach ensure that clients receive exceptional support. Her dedication to delivering seamless client experiences aligns perfectly with organizational goals and reflects her deep-rooted passion for making a meaningful difference in patients' lives, ensuring they receive the quality care they deserve.

Outside of work, Maria enjoys traveling, listening to audiobooks while baking or cooking, and hosting gatherings for her large family. In her downtime, she stays active with her Peloton bike, yoga, weight training, and meditation.

Alexandra Maccarone, EPC

Executive Director, Strategic Growth & Partnerships

Alexandra Maccarone is an accomplished executive with over 20 years of experience shaping the future of travel assistance services. As Executive Director of Growth Strategy and Partnerships at Nomad Assistance, she leads with vision, building scalable operational frameworks, securing strategic alliances, and designing innovative solutions tailored to evolving traveler needs.

Alexandra has successfully launched and scaled assistance platforms in Canada, developing high-performing claims and service teams that deliver exceptional customer experiences. Her extensive leadership experience includes senior executive roles across the insurance and travel protection industries. As Managing Director at Battleface Canada and Director of Client Services at World Travel Protection, she consistently demonstrated expertise in client relationship building and organizational growth.

In her personal time, Alexandra enjoys traveling, painting, and baking.

Audrey Laplante

Director of Operations

Director of Operations Audrey Laplante brings a relentless focus on efficiency, growth, and customer excellence as Senior Director of Operations at Nomad Assistance. With her extensive expertise in operations management, she leads the implementation and continuous optimization of internal processes, ensuring both operational efficiency and exceptional client satisfaction.

She plays a key role in shaping the company’s vision, aligning innovation with the highest standards of service in the travel insurance industry. Valued for her leadership and strategic thinking, she empowers her teams to achieve ambitious goals while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. Her dedication to operational excellence makes her a driving force behind Nomad Assistance s mission to revolutionize the travel assistance industry.

Outside of work, Audrey enjoys reading, walking on the beach, and practicing Pilates.

Patrick Lavoie

Chief of Sales

Patrick is a veteran of the Canadian travel assistance and insurance industry, with over 25 years of experience. Before joining Nomad Assistance, he built his expertise at renowned companies including ManuVie, Tourmed, Ingle, and SecuriGlobe.

As Chief of Development at Nomad Assistance, Patrick drives innovation and company growth while showcasing to diverse partners what sets Nomad Assistance apart in the market. His strategic vision focuses on creating unique, customized solutions that distinguish the company’s comprehensive travel assistance and insurance offerings from traditional competitors.

Outside of work, Patrick enjoys cooking on his barbecue and smoker, and loves spending time in nature through a variety of outdoor activities.

Mathieu Laplante

Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer

Mathieu Laplante is Chief Executive Officer and co-Founder of Nomad Assistance. He leads the companies' go-to-market strategy, driving growth objectives focused on industry and solution strategy, business development, global alliances, and the technology platform ecosystem. He has been instrumental in the growth and development of both organizations and is responsible for building the business and financial infrastructure. Mathieu has driven the vision, culture, and growth of the companies since soNomad was founded in 2019.

Before co-founding Nomad Assistance and soNomad, Mathieu was the CEO and co-owner of Securiglobe, an insurance financial firm. He has been a leader, product visionary and innovator in the travel insurance and assistance industry for more than 25 years.

Mathieu loves to read about finance and the stock market, loves to walk on the beach and is a hard-core football and hockey fan.

Louis-Philippe Meunier

Chief Technology Officer

Louis-Philippe Meunier serves as Chief Technology Officer at Nomad Assistance, where he leads our technology initiatives and oversees our talented team of developers. With over 20 years of experience in technology leadership, he brings strategic vision and hands-on expertise to drive our company's technological advancement and innovation. At Nomad Assistance, Louis-Philippe is instrumental in shaping our technology strategy and fostering an environment where innovation thrives.

Throughout his career, Louis-Philippe has held pivotal leadership roles including Senior Director of Innovation & Application Development at Randstad Canada, CTO at Segic focusing on collective insurance innovation, and Director positions at Alcero where he spent a lot of years building enterprise solutions. His extensive background spans the insurance and technology sectors, giving him deep insight into industry challenges and opportunities.

In his spare time, he enjoys staying current with tech trends, science, and snowboarding.

Eve Murphy

Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer

In her role as co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Nomad Assistance, Eve directs the company's global expansion strategy and commercial operations, focusing on innovation initiatives, operations structures, marketing, and customer success.

With over 25 years of professional experience, Eve has demonstrated a wealth of expertise in streamlining operations and expanding businesses in the travel insurance and assistance sector. Prior to co-founding Nomad Assistance and soNomad, she held the role of co-owner and EVP operations at Securiglobe, a leading player in the Canadian travel industry. Eve's passion for transforming travel insurance led to the creation of Nomad Assistance, designed to provide the best support during travelers' times of need when they must use their travel insurance.

Outside the office, Eve enjoys time with family, great books, and inspiring podcasts.

Chantal Giroux

Director of Administration

With 30+ years in insurance and administration, Chantal brings deep operational expertise to Nomad Assistance. She spent 15 years in group insurance before moving into property management, where she strengthened her skills in operations, compliance, and client relations.

For the past 15 years, she has focused on travel-insurance administration and accounting, experience that makes her a key pillar of our leadership team. Chantal joined Nomad Assistance because she believes in our mission and values and was eager to help build an innovative standard for travel assistance.

Outside of work, she’s an avid reader and loves spending quality time with her family, balance that keeps her grounded and energized.
